Shellburg Lions to hold Bingo October 7 and 21

The Shellsburg Lions will be having Bingo at the Shellsburg Legion on October 7 and 21 (1st and 3rd Sat). The Legion will be serving food. 12TH ANNUAL CENTER POINT CEMETERY WALK SEPT. 24

The Center Point Historical Society will hold its annual Cemetery Walk on Sunday, September 24, at 4 p.m. at the Center Point Cemetery, 1500 Main St. Costumed actors will portray five of Center Point’s dear departed. If it’s rainy (remember rain?) the event will be at the Depot Museum, 700 Washington St., with projected photos of the gravesites.

CENTER POINT CEMETERY WALK IS SEPTEMBER 24

The Center Point Historical Society will hold the annual Cemetery Walk on Sunday September 24, at 4:00 p.m. at the Center Point Cemetery, 1500 Main St. in Center Point.Admission $5.Costumed portrayers share the stories of five of Center Point’s past residents. Included are a 1900s businessman, whose success couldn’t save five of his eight little children; a World War I balloon crew veteran; and Center Point’s legendary music lady.

Vinton Visioning Committee to Present Final Conceptual Landscape Designs Aug. 31

Residents of Vinton will have the opportunity to view the final conceptual landscape designs created through the Community Visioning Program, in which Vinton has been a participant since November 2022. On August 31, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Meg Flenker (PLA) from Flenker Land Architecture Consultants, Trees Forever Field Coordinator Peter Lundgren, and Vinton Community Visioning committee members will be available to answer questions regarding these designs.

Dysart Historical Center Program, Sunday, Aug. 20

Have you ever wondered about Dysart Main Street History? Marcia Knupp will present a program at the Dysart Historical Museum located at 612 Crisman Street on the topic. The public is invited to the Agricultural Museum on Sunday, August 20, beginning at 2 p.m. to enjoy the program. Knupp will be sharing some historical information on past establishments that lined Dysart’s Main Street.
